My favorite pass time—shopping!

I enjoy shopping as much as any girl, well actually probably a lot more than the average girl. I have not gone shopping since december 27th I think, and this is just too too too long. I actually believe I may be diagnosed with shopping withdrawal. So, to compensate for such an atrocity I have been "shopping" online (just looking...kind of...sometimes my credit card comes out and makes a contribution to the party too)
These are some of the things I have found on my online adventures that I find quite fabulous.
Really this is just a list of things I want to buy some day when I am richer and putting it on my blog is just a permanent wish list really.
Bracelet from Betsey Johnson

Earings from Betsey Johnson

Winter Time Really is the Best Time of the Year

So if you live in Colorado, like me, you have noticed that it is really, really cold outside, and snowy. Well, I absolutely love winter AND the snow. First because that means that christmas is coming soon and Christmas is the best day of the year, don't even try to argue that it isn't because you will lose. Why is winter so wonderful you may ask? Because the CLOTHES in winter are so wonderful of course! Of course there are some of you who only like summer clothes and shorts and tank tops and what not, but you just don't have very good imaginations. There are so many magical possibilities in winter clothes that you cant achieve in summer clothes. So here are some of the magical, fantastic, fabulous things you can do with your style while tromping through the winter wonderland.

Scarves
  • Scarves double as extra warmth and super cuteness. I like to wear them with plain shirts to add a little pizzazz and sparkle (well maybe not sparkle, it depends on whether or not your scarf is sparkly)
Boots
  • so its cold outside and snowy, and walking in high heals may be a little cold and insensible. Therefore, wear BOOTS. I like all kinds of boots, bigs boots, small boots, furry boots, leather boots, boots, boots, boots, boots!
"Motorcycle boots"
sorels
(i love love love these)
sorels

Riding boots
"duck boots"
more sorels

Jackets

  • i like jackets because they are warm and they can be really cute. I like wool and pea coats and plaid generally.

I have this one (and love it)

Sweaters
  • I like sweaters. All sweaters. They are warm and comfy and usually cute.

Houndstooth!!

  • I only added this so that I could show off the dress and skirt I made over Thanksgiving break : )

Well I hope you now will be motivated to dress cutely while preparing for the Christmas season. I love you. All of you.

Being a Cupcake

Not all of us are the same. This is obvious. And because we are not all the same it is apparent that we cannot all wear the same things. I will forever live with the knowledge that I will never ever ever look good in skinny jeans and a t-shirt, I'm just to "bobacious" and "voluptuous" as my mother calls it. However to make up for this sad truth I have developed a SOLUTION! We all must create our own personal styles. Life would be so dull if we all looked the same, so we must all be DIFFERENT! A good friend of mine told me while we were shopping in Las Vegas that I am a "cupcake" at first I thought it was being implied that I have muffin tops (always a touchy subject with me) but then it was clarified that I wear clothes that are reminiscent of cupcakes and pastries and yumminess. So yes, I am a cupcake.
Here are my tips on making your own "cupcake"

  1. Find a certain style that you really like. I personally really like clothes from Anthropologie.
  2. Next, because I cannot afford to buy EVERYTHING from Anthropologie I copy the styles and create my own look.
  3. button sweater from my mom's closet,
    belt from old navy,
skirt made by me (fabric from old camping bags and an old curtain),
    tights from H&M,
    shoes from Dillards
I also really like Betsey Johnson (which is very expensive which makes me sad) and this is something I loved that I tried on at the Betsey Johnson store in the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas:

  4. Although I do not wear Anthropologie-ish, or Betsey Johnson, clothes everyday I do try to always try to have the "tone" of the store, because I think it is pretty.
It takes a very long time to develop a personal style. In elementary school I like to wear tulle with everything and layered clothing quite excessively, in middle school I tried the "Aeropostale" look (which I guess worked because I had yet to develop my voluptuousness, but did not fit my personality), and now in High School I am an Anthropologie loving cupcake.
Other things to take into consideration when developing a style:
First, analyze your body type. We are not, as I said earlier, all the same. If you have curves (like me) make sure to choose a style that allows you to wear skirts and dresses that accentuate your waist.
Second, think about your personality. Someone who is obsessed with death and vampires and what not will not look good as a cupcake. However, someone who likes fairy tales and sweet things makes for an excellent cupcake.
I hope you all take this into consideration and take a while to think, who are you? Are you a cupcake?

LOVE YOU!

Mary's Fashion Rules

So I have some pretty strict rules for fashion that I follow religiously. My sister (and honestly most people) think that they are a little ridiculous, but I like them.
so, if anyone else would like to follow my rules, here they are.

  1.  Do not wear the same outfit two weeks in a row, I generally say not the same outfit in the same month
  2. In one week, do not wear the same type of outfit more than twice, i.e. you can only wear a dress twice, a skirt twice, or jeans twice
  3. If you wear an outfit on the weekend, like to church, and you only saw your family and did not see people that you go to work or school with, you may wear that outfit again on monday or any other time during the week
  4. the same color schemes may not be worn in sequential days
  5. Black and Brown may only be worn together when it is a light brown and accessories match
  6. gold and silver jewelry may not be worn together
  7. Nail polish must not be chipped EVER! if your nail polish is chipped, just take it off
  8. i prefer my nailpolish to match my outfit, but it is not necessary
  9. purse SHOULD match outfit
  10. individual pieces may be repeated every other week, but not full outfits
Those are only some of my fashion rules. I will include other rules later
